James married (1) Muhulda Paralee Narramore daughter of Fielding Myers Narramore and Martha Taylor on 11 Jan 1855. Muhulda was born on 23 Feb 1834 in Bledsoe Co, TN. She died on 19 Mar 1890 in Roane Co, TN. She was buried in Ables Cemetery, Roane Co, TN.
They lived about 2.5 miles from Crab Orchard in what was then Bledsoe Co. Moved to Glen Alice in Roane Co, Nov 1888, where Mahulda died.

2 M i. Judge Samuel Chase Brown was born on 5 Nov 1855 in Cumberland Co, TN. He died on 13 May 1946 in Athens, McMinn, TN.
As a young man he walked to
Athens, TN where he graduated at Grant University (now Tennessee Wesleyan). He
practiced law in Crossville and was Superintendent of Schools in Cumberland Co.
(in the 1880's when his sister Flora was teaching their).
He was part owner of the Crossville Chronicle. In 1892 he was a delegate from
the 4th congressional district to the National Republican Convention in
Minneapolis. He was elected Judge in 1910 of the Fourth Judicial Circuit and
served for 16 years.
Samuel married Mary Alice Cline on 5 Dec 1887. Mary was born on 5 Dec 1862 in Bremen, Marshall Co, IN. She died in 1943.
3 F ii. Elizabeth Jane Brown was born on 22 Jun 1857 in Cumberland Co, TN. She died in 1893 in Glen Alice, Roane, TN.
Elizabeth married Asa Franklin Hinds son of Levi Jackson Hinds and Martha Bullard. Asa was born in 1860. He died in 1939.
